The Hong Kong Prize and the Xplorer Prize

Hong Kong students are encouraged to express their creative side through art. Students can participate in the Hong Kong Student Prize when nominated by their teachers, submitting artwork online before the submission deadline – with winners receiving cash prizes and their school eligible for winning a Public Vote Prize.

The Hong Kong Prize is an award provided by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited that recognizes outstanding scientists and research teams residing in Hong Kong as well as research-related institutions established by higher education institutions in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area for significant scientific and technological innovations and transformation. It serves as an award that celebrates scientific innovation while honoring outstanding contributions made towards society’s transformation.

Each of the five Prize Winners will be awarded with HK$2 Million by Bank of China (Hongkong) Limited and presented with their Award at a ceremony hosted by Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation alongside an exhibition showcasing their science work and results achieved.

The Hong Kong Phil wishes to express its deep appreciation to the Hong Kong SAR Government, Principal Patron the Swire Group and music-lovers worldwide who voted in their favour to receive this year’s International Orchestral Performance of the Year award – their sixth time being recognized for this distinguished honour!

HONG KONG – Cash incentives for athletes competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics have been increased by up to 20 percent, and individual gold medalists could potentially receive up to HK$6 million as individual awards. Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan announced this change during a flag-raising ceremony to welcome Hong Kong athletes competing at this year’s Games, which begin July 26.

Hong Kong’s Xplorer Prize, launched by Pony Ma, Chairman and Founder of Tencent, together with prominent scientists, was established to provide young researchers with financial support. The Prize prioritizes research that has the potential for commercialization, social impact and environmental protection – the Prize has so far funded 200 promising young scientists over four years based on criteria including academic achievements and research proposals assessed for independence, exploration, creativity innovation feasibility. Furthermore, its purpose is also to encourage curious youth who explore their world and discover potential for future success through curiosity about their world while exploring potential.
