The Hongkong Prize is an Asian writing competition that gives writers an opportunity to demonstrate their talent and build a reputation. Before entering, those interested should carefully review all rules and regulations as this can help avoid costly errors that could reduce chances of winning. Open to both Southeast Asia residents as well as mainland Chinese authors.
The Hong Kong Prize was established to highlight Hong Kong’s role as an innovation hub and global connection. Previous recipients have included journalists who exposed human rights abuses in their home countries, activists fighting for democracy and social justice, community service workers empowering marginalized communities, as well as journalists writing about human rights abuses around the globe. Its independent judging panel ensures it remains one of the most reputable prizes in Asia.
Applications for the Hongkong Prize must present research articles that have had significant effects in their field and published in an academic journal – rather than being meta-analyses or review articles – with relevant topics related to Hong Kong. A judging panel will evaluate each submission based on significance and impact; winners will receive cash prizes, book vouchers, as well as the opportunity to travel there themselves!
The Hongkong Prize Scholarship Contest not only honors academic achievements, but it also encourages students to pursue their passions and broaden their global perspectives. Every year thousands of students apply to be part of this ceremony held each April – in addition to financial prizes they also receive F&B and shopping vouchers that they can spend in Hong Kong.
The Hongkong Prize Scholarship Contest is open to high school students throughout Asia, including Mainland China and other non-accredited schools. Students interested in applying should visit the World of Winners splash page starting March 1 and submit online entries; those qualifying will receive an official letter from HKFA and be included in its voting process.
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize (STIP), inaugurated by the Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited in 2022, honors outstanding scientists and scientific researchers (individuals or teams) for furthering world civilisation through innovative exploration, and applying their research findings towards practical applications benefiting society. Each year experts from Hong Kong and overseas are invited to select winning research findings in five fields – Artificial Intelligence/Robotics/Life & Health/New Materials/NE Energy/Advanced Manufacturing/FinTech; one award winner will be chosen out of each field every year – there will only ever be one winner per field!
